I have been mentioning all last week what I predict for the new fashion year. I have been paying close attention to the panache sense of the people in the fashion Mecca of New York and right here in my trendy hometown of Philly, PA and I noticed the relaxed style of many of the natives that walk through the streets of Fashion Avenue (NY) and the lavish Walnut Street (Philly) that the style is very relaxed and casual with a really funky edge.
I call this look- Street Chic! Know this is not a new title nor is it a new trend. This is where fashion gets its very essence… from the streets!
What is making Street Chic fashion the thing of today? Fashion is an art that is always a way of expressing who you are and how you feel by what you wear and how you wear it! Although it is very true that you can never judge a book by its cover, it is also very true that you first impression is a lasting impression and what you wear can make a person feel that you are either approachable or not; sophisticated or trashy; filled with self-esteem and confidence or lacking in self-esteem and filled with pity.
I think that one of the best ways to express yourself though art is the ability to make your own art (sewing your own clothing, making your own accessories, etc.) but for those who can’t it is always great to connect with a look (designer or a trend that you like) that can help you express the best you that you want everyone to know.
Most people that are into the look of Street Chic are those people that like to look… FLY!!! Yes, the look comes from wearing really trendy hair pieces and hair styles:
Hats

I love the shirts by Urban Flrt because they are comfortable and chic and made in the USA!

Hair (Neat Buns)

The bun is a classic hairstyle that never seems to go out of style! And when you mix the bun with the streets, you can't help but look chic!
Clean Makeup (The Natural Look)

A little something on the eys and lips can say a lot! Remember, those lavish lashes are for the pics and runway, not the streets.
Accessories that Scream Chic!

Jeans (Skinny, Boyfriend, Straight legs)

I love to shop at www.oldnavy.com because they make jeans that compliment my curves.
Shoes (Flats,Fancy sneakers, etc)

Gone are the days of baggy pants that are not age appropriate or just plain classless! Gone are the days of by jeans that create the unflattering muffin top (although that is the best part of the baked breaded goods)!
Say goodbye to the shirts that offensively scream words that reference the female’s best kept secret all over her shirt and welcome to the fashion that is Street Chic!!!
Do you agree? Do you have anything to add to the list…
Let me know what you think.
