So I was invited to a book signing for radio personality, Kendra G. at my favorite accessory shop, PNK ELEPHANT on South Street in Philly, PA and I had a really good time. It at first started off a little slow, but things started to pick up once I started taking pics of some of the fashionable young women. Not only was I impressed with they sense of style but the movement that they were there to support.

Abstinence is Kool is not just a book but a movement! These young women have chosen to take a pledge to not have sex during the school year. Why? So that they can focus on their education and get the best out of their school experience. A lot of people have asked Kendra G. why she only made the girls commit to only nine months. "I wanted the girls can to make a short-term goal that they can accomplish. When they accomplish that short term goal, then they are confident in the long-term goals," Kendra explains. I personally think that is a good idea.
I was very curious as to why she decided to create the Abstinence is Kool program and she said, "Well, I know that I made a hard choice in my past, which is in the book, but I knew that young girls needed to hear why they did not need to have sex. I give it to them straight with no chaser in my book." The program has been growing and growing since she has taken her mission from school-to-school in Philadelphia and on a national tour.

If you already heard about the PNK Elephant at the corner of South Street, then you’re gonna hear about it again.
Founded by Blair Sandlain and Kijafa Frink, the setting of the store is absolutely fabulous! The pink and zebra print theme draws you in like a kid at a candy store.
