IN THE MIND OF A TEENAGE FASHIONISTA (Diary) #19: "I Ran the Night!!!"

Dear Fashion Diary,

After my journey that took all day to New york City (I can only blame SEPTA!!!), I finally arrived at “We Run the Night” Fashion Industry Networking Mixer planned by some of my close fashion friends, Eboyne Jackson of Divine Influence PR and Jessica Lynn of J'Lynn Design Agency. These young women are makinga great name for themselve in the fashion industry and I was glad to show my support of their first event. Special guest of the evening was Emily B. of Love and Hip Hop ATL. I unfortunately missed seeing her but I hear that she was very nice and down to earth.

When I arrived into the building, I was pleasantly greeted with a room packed wall-to-wall with fashionista and fashionistos that were eager to mingle, network, and listen to experts in the fashion industry whom had their finger on the pulse of the fashion world.

DOLCE & GABBANA’S PEPLUMED EGGPLANT-PRINT DRESS, $2,475.

Fashion is always changing and evolving but this is something that you could only expect to see in a magazine! NYTimes.com featured some pictures from a magazine called, T Magazine who created a spread that was inspired by Giuseppe Arcimboldo, a16th Century Italian painter that was all about food and fashion. The spread featured food fashion looks with everything from candy to fish! Check out the pictures below.

The dresses by Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada are going to be the subjects of the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute show that opens in New York on May 10, 2012.

I have to say that I took a liking to the pink candy inspired look and the red reef dress above, but the other dresses don't move me as much. I can appreciate the art in some ways though but the fish in the mouth.... not sure about that!!!

What do you think? Is this art or just a mess?

FASHIONISTA THOUGHT: If you run into your fashion idol during fashion week in NYC, will you be prepared?

If you run into your fashion idol during fashion week in NYC, will you be prepared?

I watched Project Runway all season last year. I was rooting for the season's winner Anya Ju Young Chee from day one and I was super excited the night of her win. During NYC Fashion Week I ran into her at Union Square and the moment was so surreal! I have the picture to prove it, but what I wish I did besides take the picture was to ask her for fashion tips or even how she's been managing her line since the show ended. As a young, hip, and chic fashionista do you think you'll be prepared if you met your fashion icon?

What would you say? What would you ask? Who would it be???

FASHION: Is Plus Size the new in size??? Saks Fifth Avenue in NYC will be adding plus-size clothing!!!

According to several fashion outlets, Saks Fifth Avenue in NYC will be adding plus-size clothing to its high-end floor. Instead of its luxury clothing sizes that only go up to a size 10, the size are going up to a size 14, some clothes will even go from sizes 16 to 20!!! Some of the labels that will have plus size items in Sak’s are Chanel, D&G, and YSL.

Of course there is a problem though, because Manhattan is the first place Sak’s is offering plus size clothing they are testing it by offering only one of each plus size item each (how unfair). But if the test is successful they will be offering this worldwide.

What do you think of this???
